Although crafted entirely by hand, I price my signs to match other quality mass produced factory signs. For instance, 'OAKDENE' (shown above in Yorkshire sandstone) or in a Welsh slate would be £55.00 in 50mm high letters or £80.00 in 70mm high letters. IN ADDITION, I AM CURRENTLY OFFERING FREE FIXING IN POST CODE AREAS SY1 TO SY19!! For signs outside these areas the postage is surprisingly cheap- usually under £10.00.
My slate house signs are made from the very best blue/black Welsh slate mined from the heart of Wales. It is a minimum of 12mmm thick and has been specifically selected by the quarry as the best standard and good enough for house signs. It is chemically stable and UV resistant and will not bleach or wear, lasting a lifetime. Its available as a fine rubbed, polished finish or with a natural riven finish. I usually chamfer the slate edge or can carve a border around the name. Various fonts and letter colours and any motif can be added and finished with gold leaf if desired. Counter sunk screw holes are standard but hidden fixings can be used for very easy concealed mounting. Stone house signs can be made from formal granites to rough sandstones sourced from across the country. They can be made as plaques to surface mount or blocks to incorporate into new buildings or walls. All lettering and borders are hand carved and can be incised (cut into the surface) in a V shaped carving or can be left in relief with the letters standing out from the stone. A number of borders and shapes are available and hidden fixings are also an option so please contact me and we can talk through the options and prices. A third option is a free standing, ground mounted stone or slate boulder type of sign in any size up to 2m high which can make a grand contemporary or traditional focal point.
